JOE WIND

ELDER

Joe Wind joined the board of elders in 2010 and serves as the Secretary of the Board. Joe and Winnie have been married since 1964.

Favorite Verse: 3 John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

TESTIMONY

Joe grew up in Escondido, California, when it was good and innocent time to be growing up in rural America. Joe met a wonderful girl while in High School in 1962. On November 14, 1964 they were married. They eventually had three children, two daughters and a son, in that order.  Their children have blessed them beyond blessings with five grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great-grandson.
After two career moves as a meatcutter and Winnie involved with special needs children and children's librarian, their family spent time in Oregon, northern Idaho, and back to northern California. After the kids were out of the nest, Joe and Winnie moved to Borrego Springs in 1998. Joe's father-in-law, who retired to Borrego Springs years earlier, was in very poor health and Winnie felt duty calling to care for him, which she did faithfully until his passing in 2004.
That is how they got to Borrego Springs but there's more. Joe and Winnie joined the Christian Center in 2002 soon after the awful day in September '01. Winnie takes care of the media center, mailing out sermons to folks out of the area or housebound. Joe is active with a couple of ministries such as usher/security, Salt & Light (Biblically grounded government affairs), cook and bottle washer for men's Bible study and breakfast. Joe likes to cook, so a few times a year, notably the holidays, the church will put on a dinner, lunch, or picnic. "I didn't say I was a good cook, I said I like to cook. To my knowledge we haven't lost anybody!"
Winnie and her Mom prayed for many years for Joe's salvation before it ever sunk in. Finally I met the Call in 1977. Joe is eternally grateful for their prayers and for the risen Christ's sacrifice.
